I attended Presentation Skill training this weekend.
The speaker told that the core of having a good presentation performance is about the mentality.
The very first thing we should have is the gut to perform instead of being confidence. Since once we forced to perform in front of many people, our adrenaline will help us to adapt with the condition and be confident naturally. The infirmity of worrying our confidence too much is losing the chance to perform and feel how to nail something.
People who refuse to perform was denying their selves who actually want to break their limit but their fear is a way bigger than their bravery and end up by regretting why they never at least try to do that
preparing our presentation well is going to help and boost our confidence. There are 2 major components on making a good presentation, Content and Context.
Content is the material we want to deliver. We could wrap up our content by doing this tips:
- Make sure our content contain: WHY, HOW, WHAT aspects
- Why: trigger the audience to hear you by giving some facts or trivia, because the reasons we deliver could be something the audiences need
- What: the main content we would deliver
- How: some simple steps to make the action related to the content
- Decide the flow of the content
- Try to make framing as we want
Meanwhile, Context is about the way we deliver the message or the content. There are 3 aspect related with the context of a presentation, which are ethos, pathos, and logos.
- Ethos is about how we as a speaker, want to build the audience's perspective toward us. So, let our intelligence takes role.
- Pathos is about how we build audience emotional involvement toward our presentation by engaging gesture, expression, speech volume
- Logos is about diction
A good content and appropriate context are things that we can anticipate before doing a presentation. At last we have to make sure that (on that day, at least) we have positive mind to make a good mind and body connection, then we can deliver the message with positive vibes.
Thanks to a' (yang aku lupa namanya) for giving this presentation.
